F1H2O Nations Cup
The UIM H2O Nations Cup is promoted and marketed by H2O Racing as a stand-alone addition to F1 H2O and F4-S racing. The concept is not for drivers to compete for individual glory but, instead, to represent their home country.
Each participating nation is permitted to use two boats, although all the boats are prepared by a central team of Nations Cup mechanics and only handed to individual countries at the race meeting to ensure that all remains equal in terms of technical specifications and engine performance. Boats, Mercury OptiMax engines and propellers are the property of the Nations Cup.
National Authorities are responsible for selecting their own drivers. Each boat is clearly identifiable with removable parts, such as the nose, pickle fork, tunnel and engine cover, all painted in national colours.
Nations Cup meetings have been held in Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Khor Fakkan and Shanghai and normally take place once a year on their own designated slot in the UIM calendar.
The race format is normally over two days, with free practice, timed trials and the first of the races on day one and a similar format on the second day. Points amassed by both drivers are added together over the two days to determine the winning nation.
Each team consists of two drivers and one reserve, one team manager, one or two radiomen and two helpers per boat. Regular teams in the UIM Nations Cup have come from the UAE, Russia, Malaysia, Italy, Qatar, Belarus, Australia and China.
Boats weigh 455kg, are fitted with customary crash boxes and are powered by 225hp Mercury OptiMax 200XS engines. They are capable of reaching 100km/h in five seconds and a maximum speed of over 200km/h.
