THREE OUT OF THREE FOR NYHOLM – SZYMURA CLINCHES F-4S CHAMPIONSHIP

SHARJAH (UAE) - Thursday, 17 December, 2015 - Mohamed Al Mehairbi miraculously recovered from a first lap blow over to take what he thought was his maiden victory in the F4-S Trophy only to be disqualified immediately after the race, with Mike Szymura clinching his third consecutive championship after being promoted to second.

The remarkable incident involving Team Abu Dhabi's Al Mehairbi and Mad Croc Racing's Ferdinand Zandbergen happened just seconds after the start, the two coming together, Al Mehairbi going over and Zandbergen almost following suit. Out came the yellow flag, but incredibly both boats were able to continue, a missing engine cover the sum total of the damage.

From the restart Al Mehairbi trailed pole sitter Anton Nyholm for one lap before making his pass stick then disappearing into the distance, lapping all but the three behind him, taking the chequered flag to seemingly win the 18 lap race by 6.68secs

Team Sweden's Nyholm had no answer to the leader's pace and held of a determined challenge from Zandbergen for three laps before shaking him off to take the chequered flag in second, then elevated to first and now has three wins from three starts.

Zandbergen looked comfortable in third but slowed on lap 15 and was passed by F1 GC Atlantic's Szymura who cruised home to take the chequered in third to win the F4-S Trophy Championship for a third time, the disqualification elevating both a place.

CTIC China's Wu Bingchen was another driver to fall foul of officials and was given a one lap penalty for not maintaining his line at the start, dropping him to eighth.

Mansoor Al Mansoori finished fourth ahead of Rashed Al Qamzi and Joakim Halvorsen, with Paolo Longhi retiring on lap 8.
