Dominant Al Mulla on top again in Italy as Al Tayer
stays in hunt for another title

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 3 June, 2019: Team Abu Dhabi have a double title triumph still well within their grasp in the 2019 UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship after experiencing mixed fortunes in the Grand Prix of Italy.

While Rashed Al Mulla extended his freestyle dominance in Olbia at the weekend, team-mate Rashed Al Tayer remains in the hunt for the Runabout GP1 crown despite being hindered by mechanical problems for two days in a row.

Al Tayer’s hopes of extending his outright championship lead were dashed when he lost the lead on the start lap in the second moto because of a technical issue.

After re-joining the race in last place he was black-flagged on the next lap for a course infringement, but still finished the second round of the championship just two points adrift of the new leader, Denmark’s Marcus Jorgensen.

There were no problems for reigning freestyle world champion Al Mulla who made it eight Grand Prix victories in a row to extend his championship lead to 12 points over Italian Roberto Mariani.
